Central Park Sparrows

The most common sparrow in Central Park is the House Sparrow, second is the White-throated Sparrow, then Song Sparrow, and Chipping Sparrow.

For over twenty years I have documented the wildlife of the park, capturing seasonal residents alongside unexpected visitors. A magnificent treat I experienced was photographing a rare Henslow's Sparrow in Central Park on October 3, 2020, marking the first time in 28 years that a Henslow's Sparrow was documented in the park!

During spring migration, mid April-May, and fall migration, August-November you can possibly see Lincoln's Sparrow, Lark Sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow, and Vesper Sparrow. Sometimes, the Lark Sparrow can even be found perched up in a tree.
