Shorebirds, Gulls and Terns

This gallery features photos of diverse coastal and aquatic birds, including gulls, terns, sandpipers, plovers, and other unique native species.

For over twenty years I have documented these incredibly agile travelers during their seasonal journeys, capturing native residents alongside long-distance migrants like the juvenile Red Knot, Sanderling, Willet, and the protected Piping Plover.

Select photos in this collection were captured in their natural coastal wintering grounds and local habitats across the New York area, including Central Park, Governor's Island, and the shores of Nickerson Beach and Rockaway Beach.
