Central Park Waterfowl

There was a rare and stunning, banded, male, Mandarin Duck at The Pond in Central Park in 2018 that had been photographed by thousands of people and appeared in publications seen by millions around the world. The Mandarin Duck, native to East Asia, was the most beautiful bird ever in Central Park. He was last seen in March 2019.

The best time to see ducks and other waterfowl in Central Park is winter through early spring. And the best place to see them is at the reservoir which is between 86th and 96th street.
